Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the edamame pods and boil for about 3 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
Drain the edamame thoroughly and set aside.
Heat a large pan or grill pan over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt.
Once the butter is melted and slightly bubbling, add the drained edamame, red pepper powder and chili flakes to the pan.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, until the edamame is heated through and slightly charred in places.
Transfer the buttery grilled edamame to a serving dish.
Sprinkle generously with sea salt before serving.
